Diamonds are one of the world’s most treasured stones, formed deep within the Earth about 100 miles below the surface. At this depth, the combination of extreme temperatures (around 2000 degrees) and pressure (from the weight of overlying rock bearing down) causes several carbon atoms to bond together.
This is when crystals begin to grow and create the diamonds we treasure today. It took deep-seated volcanic eruptions that occurred thousands of years ago to bring diamonds to the Earth’s surface.
Less than one percent of these diamonds are eligible to be inscribed as Forevermark.
Each Forevermark diamond undergoes a journey of rigorous selection, even beyond the standard 4Cs of diamond grading: cut, color, carat, and clarity.
Chosen for their exceptional qualities, Forevermark diamonds are sourced from a small number of mines that are committed to very high business, social, and environmental standards. During every step of its journey, strict criteria ensure that only the most beautiful and ethical diamonds are chosen to be inscribed as Forevermark.
Sourcing Forevermark diamonds responsibly means that throughout their journey from rough to polished diamonds, extra care has been taken to ensure these four standards have been met:
4 Standards of Forevermark Diamonds, Explained
- Conflict Free — Every Forevermark diamond comes from carefully selected mines and are approved according to stringent criteria, including compliance with the Kimberly process. The Kimberley Process works to eliminate the trade of conflict diamonds and requires strict monitoring to control the import and export of rough diamonds. To comply with this process, detailed records must be kept as each diamond passes along the supply chain, including Kimberley Process Certificates and warranty invoices.
- Supports Women Empowerment – You can feel proud to wear a Forevermark diamond, not only because of what it symbolizes for you, but also because of the benefits it brings to many women and their families in countries like South Africa, Canada, Botswana and Namibia. These benefits include better quality healthcare and education, valuable career opportunities, professional training, and advancement.
- Protects Nature — Forevermark is committed to the protection of wild habitats, the species they support, and the wider ecosystems of which they are a crucial part. Forevermark diamonds also help to fund vital projects that protect and nurture the beauty and diversity of the natural world.
- The Inscription – At the heart of every Forevermark diamond lies a unique inscription, a symbol of enduring commitment to integrity. The inscription is 1/20th of a micron deep, or 1/5000th the width of a human hair. After purchasing a Forevermark diamond, you can register your diamond using the unique number so it is tied to your name forever.
